FORT WORTH, Texas -- American Eagle, the regional affiliate of American Airlines, will launch nonstop regional jet service between Raleigh/Durham International Airport (RDU) and New York's LaGuardia Airport on July 2. This is the first step in a program that will provide American Eagle service from RDU to five top Northeastern cities with 25 daily round trips by mid-September.
At the same time, American Airlines announced that it will expand its RDU-Chicago nonstop service July 2 by adding a seventh daily round trip Super 80 flight. Also on July 2, American will introduce its newest and largest aircraft, the 245-seat Boeing 777, on its RDU-London Gatwick route, replacing the 767-300.
In coming months, American Eagle will start RDU service to Boston and Philadelphia (beginning August 20), with Newark International Airport beginning September 5 and Washington's Ronald Reagan Airport on September 17. The LaGuardia service that begins July 2 will include four round trip flights using 37-seat Embraer ERJ-135 regional jets. A fifth flight will be added August 20. The new service will expand Eagle's existing New York area service that includes six daily round trips to John F. Kennedy International Airport.

"Our research shows there is strong demand for regional service in Raleigh/Durham to the five Northeast destinations we are adding," said Peter Bowler, American Eagle President. "More than 130,000 AADVANTAGE customers reside in the Raleigh/Durham area, so we're pleased to be able to serve a loyal group of frequent fliers. Eagle's regional jets are ideally suited for these routes, allowing many different departure times, an important feature for the business traveler."
To promote the new service American Eagle is offering double AADVANTAGE miles on each of the new flight segments, beginning with the LaGuardia routes and lasting through October. To qualify, AADVANTAGE members must purchase a published fare ticket and register prior to travel for the double miles promotion, using the promotion code: RDUDB. Registration is available online at www.aa.com/offers.
