American Eagle launches regional jet service from Raleigh/Durham to New York's LaGuardia airport with introductory fares. Airline also to start service to Boston, Philadelphia, Newark and Washington, D.C. - (06/29/01)
RALEIGH/DURHAM, NC--American Eagle, the regional affiliate of American Airlines, will launch nonstop regional jet service between Raleigh/Durham International Airport (RDU) and New York's LaGuardia Airport on July 2. This is the first step in a program that will provide American Eagle service from RDU to five top Northeastern cities with 28 daily round trips by mid-September.
In coming months, American Eagle will start RDU service to Boston and Philadelphia on Aug. 20, to Newark International Airport beginning Sept. 5 and to Washington's Ronald Reagan Airport on Sept. 17. The LaGuardia service that begins July 2 will include four round trip flights using 37-seat Embraer ERJ-135 regional jets. A fifth flight will be added Aug. 20. The new service will expand Eagle's existing New York area service from RDU that includes six daily round trips to John F. Kennedy International Airport.
The airline is celebrating the launch of its regional jet service from Raleigh/Durham to New York's LaGuardia airport with special introductory fares. American Eagle's introductory round-trip fare is $129, which includes fuel surcharges. It is non-refundable and requires a 14-day advance purchase and a Saturday night stay. This fare is available now for travel from July 4 through Aug. 31. American Eagle Launches New Service at RDU June 29, 2001. To promote the new service, American Eagle is offering double AADVANTAGE miles on each of the new flight segments, beginning with the LaGuardia routes and lasting through October. To qualify, AADVANTAGE members must purchase a published fare ticket and register prior to travel for the double miles promotion, using the promotion code: RDUDB. Registration is available online at www.aa.com/offers. With a fleet of more than 270 jet and turboprop aircraft, American Eagle operates more than 1,700 daily flights to more than 130 cities throughout the United States, Canada, The Bahamas and the Caribbean.
